56. The Director of Savings may refuse to accept an application required by these Regulations to be made in the approved form if—
(a)it does not include the full particulars required for the purposes of the application; or
(b)it is not signed by the person making the application.
57. In the case of an investment account for which terms and conditions have been set under section 9A(1) of the 1971 Act(1), or an individual savings account, where a first or any other deposit is made or received in error, the Director of Savings may return the deposit and cancel all actions taken in relation to it, or may take such other steps as may be necessary to give effect to the intention of the parties.
Section 9A was inserted by the Finance Act 2003 (c. 14), section 208(11).
