So far as is relevant to this Order, section 183 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 provides that a person who, immediately before the coming into force of that section, is a member or co-opted member of a relevant authority in Wales (other than a police authority) will cease to be a member or co-opted member of the authority unless before the end of “the prescribed period”, he has given the authority a written undertaking to observe the authority’s code of conduct.
Section 183(11) defines “the prescribed period” as beginning with the date on which section 183 comes into force, which in Wales was 31st January 2008. This Order specifies 1st May 2008 as the end of that period.
