Whereas the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions considers it appropriate for certain roads in the London borough of Barnet to be GLA side roads in the interests of the management of traffic and the control of the waiting and loading of vehicles on or in the immediate vicinity of GLA roads:

Now therefore the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by section 124A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1) hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the GLA Side Roads (London Borough of Barnet) Designation Order 2000 and shall come into force on 19th June 2000.

Designation of GLA side roads

2.—(1) The roads in the London borough of Barnet specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby designated as GLA side roads(2).

(2) The description of a road includes the intersection of that road and any other road that crosses it at the same level.

(3) In the Schedule “m” means metres.

(4) In accordance with section 124A(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, 3rd July 2000 is hereby specified as the date on which the designated roads are to become GLA side roads.

THE SCHEDULEROADS IN THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET DESIGNATED AS GLA SIDE ROADS

Roads in the vicinity of A1

1.  The Bishops Avenue—

(a)(south west arm) between its junction with Lyttleton Road (A1) and the common boundary of “Bishops Corner” and “Gable Lodge”;

(b)(north east arm) between its junction with Lyttleton Road (A1) and a point 6m south of the common boundary wall of 24 and 26 The Bishops Avenue.

2.  Blandford Close between its junction with Lyttleton Road (A1) and the front wall of 39 and 41 Lyttleton Road.

3.  The Broadway (A5100) between its junction with Watford Way (A1) and a point 2m south of the boundary wall of 123 to 125 The Broadway.

4.  Brookland Rise between its junction with Falloden Way (A1) and a point 14m north of the northern kerbline of Falloden Way.

5.  Eastholm between its junction with Falloden Way (A1) and a point 10m north of the northern kerbline of Falloden Way.

6.  Finchley Lane between its junction with the Great North Way (A1) and a point 52m south west of the south western kerbline of the Great North Way.

7.  Greenhalgh Walk between its junction with Lyttleton Road (A1) and a point 15m north of the northern kerbline of Lyttleton Road.

8.  Hendon Lane between its junction with the Great North Way (A1) and a point 48m north east of the north eastern kerbline of the Great North Way.

9.  Hill Rise between its junction with The Market Place (A1) and the southern boundary of 2 Hill Rise.

10.  Holders Hill Road (B552)—

(a)(north west side) between its junction with Great North Way (A1) and a point 60m north east of the north eastern kerbline of Great North Way;

(b)(south east side) between its junction with Great North Way (A1) and a point 55m north east of the north eastern kerbline of Great North Way.

11.  Kingsley Way between its junction with The Market Place (A1) and a point 60m south of the southern kerbline of Lyttleton Road (A1).

12.  Lawrence Street—

(a)(east side) between its junction with Watford Way (A1) and a point in line with the back line of the southern footway of Victoria Road;

(b)(west side) between its junction with Watford Way (A1) and a point in line with the southern kerbline of Victoria Road.

13.  Midholm between its junction with Falloden Way (A1) and a point 10m north of the northern kerbline of Falloden Way.

14.  Northway between its junction with The Market Place (A1) and a point 60m south of the southern kerbline of The Market Place.

15.  Ossulton Way between its junction with The Market Place (A1) and the southern boundary of 1 Ossulton Way.

16.  Parson Street (B552) between its junction with Great North Way (A1) and a point 55m south west of the south western kerbline of Great North Way.

17.  Westholm between its junction with Falloden Way (A1) and a point 10m north of the northern kerbline of Falloden Way.

Roads in the vicinity of A41

18.  Aerodrome Road between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and a point 40m north west of the western kerbline of Watford Way.

19.  Beaufort Gardens between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and a point 10m north east of the north eastern kerbline of Hendon Way.

20.  Brentfield Gardens (the entire length from a point in line with the north western flank wall of 1 Brentfield Gardens to a point in line with the north western kerbline of Highfield Avenue).

21.  Broadfields Avenue—

(a)(northern arm) between its junction with Edgware Way (A41) and a point 40m north of that junction;

(b)(southern arm) between its junction with Edgware Way (A41) and a point 40m south of the southern kerbline of Edgware Way.

22.  The Burroughs (A504)—

(a)(north west side) between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and the south west flank wall of 25 The Burroughs;

(b)(south east side) between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and a point 12m south of the southern boundary wall of 44 The Burroughs.

23.  Cheyne Walk between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and a point 10m south east of the eastern kerbline of Hendon Way.

24.  Cricklewood Lane—

(a)(western arm) between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and the common boundary of 232 and 234 Cricklewood Lane;

(b)(eastern arm) between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and the north east flank wall of 294 and 296 Cricklewood Lane.

25.  Edgwarebury Lane—

(a)(northern arm) between its junction with Edgware Way (A41) and a point 40m north of the northern kerbline of Edgware Way;

(b)(southern arm) between its junction with Edgware Way (A41) and a point 40m south of the southern kerbline of Edgware Way.

26.  Elliot Road between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and a point 10m south west of the south western kerbline of Hendon Way.

27.  Graham Road between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and a point 10m south west of the south western kerbline of Hendon Way.

28.  Greyhound Hill—

(a)(north east side) between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and the north west boundary of 66 Greyhound Hill;

(b)(south west side) between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and the north west boundary of 75 Greyhound Hill.

29.  Hendale Avenue—

(a)(north east side) between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and a point 10m east of the eastern kerbline of Watford Way;

(b)(south west side) between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and the western boundary of 2 Hendale Avenue.

30.  Highfield Avenue between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and a point 15m east of the north eastern kerbline of Hendon Way.

31.  Lyndale between its junction with Hendon Way (A41) and a point 15m south west of the south western kerbline of Hendon Way.

32.  Neeld Crescent between its junction with Watford Way (A41) and a point 10m south west of the south western kerbline of Watford Way.

41.  Brent Street between its junction with North Circular Road (A406) and a point 50m north west of that junction.

42.  Finchley Road between its junction with North Circular Road (A406) and a point 55m south of the southern kerbline of North Circular Road.

43.  Golders Green Road between its junction with North Circular Road (A406) and a point 75m south east of that junction.

44.  Regents Park Road—

(a)(western side) between its junction with North Circular Road (A406) and a point 75m north of the northern kerbline of the North Circular Road;

(b)(eastern side) between its junction with North Circular Road (A406) and a point 85m north of the northern kerbline of the North Circular Road.

45.  Slip roads on the approach to Staples Corner Roundabout Edgware Road (North Circular Road (A406)/M1 junction).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 272 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 inserts a new section 124A into the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 whereby the Secretary of State may designate roads or proposed roads which are to be GLA side roads, for which Transport for London will be the traffic authority. This Order designates the roads in the London Borough of Barnet specified in the Schedule as GLA side roads with effect from 3rd July 2000.
