The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) and (6) of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970(1), hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) (No. 6) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 6th January 1999.
2. London Luton Airport Operations Limited(2) (“the Company”), being a person appearing to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and to the Secretary of State for Wales to be exercising functions of a public nature, shall be a public body for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970 in its application to England and Wales.
3. Agreements which may be entered into by the Company by virtue of this Order shall be restricted to those for the provision of administrative, professional or technical services by the Council of the Borough of Luton for the Company.

Article 2 of this Order designates London Luton Airport Operations Limited (“the Company”) as a public body under section 1(5) of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970. The effect of designation is to allow a local authority to provide goods and services to the designated body.
By virtue of article 3, the agreements which the Company may enter into under the 1970 Act are restricted to those for the provision of administrative, professional or technical services by Luton Borough Council to the Company.
