These Regulations further amend the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 by replacing regulation 10 with the new regulations 10, 10A, 10B and 10C set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.
Regulation 3 of these Regulations amends regulation 4 of the 1986 Regulations so that the new regulation 10A is not among the regulations in Part II of those Regulations which do not apply to certain vehicles brought temporarily into Great Britain.
Regulation 4 introduces the Schedule containing the new regulations. The new regulation 10 prohibits (with specified exceptions) the driving of a vehicle with an overall travelling height of more than 3 metres unless a notice stating the height of the vehicle and meeting specified requirements is displayed in the cab.
The new regulation 10A prohibits the driving of a vehicle to which the regulation applies unless it is fitted with a device which gives a visible warning to the driver if the height of the vehicle exceeds a predetermined level: Regulation 10B specifies the vehicles to which regulation 10A applies and vehicles which are exempted from it and regulation 10C provides for the interpretation of regulations 10A and 10B.
