Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 10th October 1997 sections 41 and 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1991 insofar as they relate to Scotland and have not already been commenced. These provisions respectively insert sections 35C and 46A into the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 and introduce new procedures whereby local authorities may vary charges payable at off-street parking and designated (on-street) parking places respectively.
