The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 84(1) and (2) and 124 of, and paragraph 27(1) of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the A40 Trunk Road (Western Avenue, Hillingdon) (30 mph Speed Limit) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 22nd November 1996.
2. In this Order —
“the relevant length”means that length of the westbound access slip road between its junction with the western kerb line of Hercies Road and a point 319 metres to the west of that junction;
“the westbound access slip road”means that length of trunk road that links Long Lane (A437) to the westbound main carriageway of the trunk road;
“Long Lane”and “Hercies Road”mean the roads so named in the London Borough of Hillingdon;
“the trunk road”means that part of the A40 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
3. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour in the relevant length.
