7.—(1) The sheriff shall appoint a secretary of the panel and, if the sheriff considers it necessary, an assistant secretary or assistant secretaries.
(2) The remuneration and allowances to be paid to the secretary and any assistant secretary of the panel, and their conditions of employment, shall be such as may be agreed between the appropriate authority or authorities and the sheriff or, failing agreement, as may be determined by the Secretary of State.
