Liability Orders

2.—(1) Regulation 1(2) shall be amended by substituting for the definition of “judgment” the following:—

• ““judgment”; includes

  (a)

  an order (within the meaning of Order 1, rule 3 of the County Court Rules 1981(1)) and

  (b)

  a liability order which has been designated by the Secretary of State for the purposes of section 33(5)(2) of the Child Support Act 1991 (“the 1991 Act”)(3) and which, by virtue of that provision, is to be treated as a judgment entered in a county court;.”

(2) Regulation 1(2) shall be further amended by inserting the following definitions after the definition of “judgment”—

• ““liability order” shall have the same meaning as in section 33 of the 1991 Act;

• “proper officer” shall mean, for the purposes of the registration of liability orders as defined in this regulation, an officer designated as such by the Secretary of State and acting on his behalf.”
