The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on her by section 6(1)(da) of the Nurses, Midwives and Health visitors Act 1979(1) and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health visiting for England (Constitution and Administration) Amendment Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st April 1994.

2.  For article 12(3) of the National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health visiting for England (Constitution and Administration) Order 1993(2) there shall be substituted the following—

(3) The Board shall arrange an appropriate scheme for the introduction of candidates to institutions approved under section 6(1)(a) of the Act (approval of institutions)(3) which have vacancies on courses of education for persons intending to qualify to be registered in any of Parts 1 to 15 of the professional register.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health visiting for England (Constitution and Administration) Order 1993 (“the principal Order”) which makes provision concerning the constitution and administration of the National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health visiting for England (“the Board”) established under section 5(1) of the Nurses, Midwives and Health visitors Act 1979.

This Order removes the Board’s duty to provide or to arrange for others to provide education and further education for teachers of nurses, midwives and health visitors and substitutes a duty to provide a clearing service for pre-registration candidates.
