The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 16 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers

1.  The Lancashire County Council (Proposed Connecting Roads to M6 Motorway at Haighton) Special Roads Scheme 1992 is hereby confirmed with modifications.

2.  The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1 3PY and at the offices of Lancashire County Council, Christ Church Precinct, County Hall, Preston PR1 8XJ.

3.  The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

4.  This Instrument may be cited as the Lancashire County Council (Proposed Connecting Roads to the M6 Motorway at Haighton) Special Roads Scheme Confirmation Instrument 1993.

THE SCHEDULETHE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (PROPOSED CONNECTING ROADS TO M6 MOTORWAY AT HAIGHTON) SPECIAL ROADS SCHEME 1992

The Lancashire County Council make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under Sections 16 and 17 of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers

1.  The County Council are authorised to provide along the routes described in The Schedule to this scheme special roads for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980 as amended.

2.  The centre lines of the special roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan.

3.  In this Scheme—

“the County Council” means the Lancashire County Council;

“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered 1 contained in the plan folio marked “The Lancashire County Council (Proposed Connecting Roads to M6 Motorway at Haighton) Special Roads Scheme 1992” sealed with the Common Seal of the County Council and deposited at the offices of the County Council at Christ Church Precinct, County Hall, Preston.A certified copy is also deposited at the Department of Transport, North West Regional Office, Sunley Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BE.

“the special roads” means the special road which the County Council are authorised by this Scheme to provide.

4.  This Scheme may be cited as the Lancashire County Council (Proposed Connecting Roads to M6 Motorway at Haighton) Special Roads Scheme 1992.

SCHEDULE THE ROUTES OF THE SPECIAL ROADS

1.  A route (comprising of a slip road) 0.50 kilometres in overall length to connect the northbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway to the all-purpose Longsands Lane-Longridge Road Link Road for the Haighton Employment Area. (The special road along this route being given the reference number 1 on the deposited plan).

2.  A route (comprising of a slip road) 0.75 kilometres in overall length to connect the southbound carriageway of the M6 Motorway to the all-purpose Longsands Lane-Longridge Road Link Road for the Haighton Employment Area. (The special road along this route being given the reference number 2 on the deposited plan).

24th day of March 1992.

The Common Seal of the Lancashire County Council was hereunto affixed in pursuance of a resolution passed at a meeting of the Special Joint Sub-Committee on the M6 Widening between junctions 30 and 32 and the provision of a new motorway junction at Haighton duly convened and held on the
