The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 16 of the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in him(2) and of all other enabling powers:—

1.  The M4 Motorway Castleton—Coryton (Connecting Roads, Special Roads) Scheme is hereby confirmed without modification.

2.  The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) is set out in the Schedule hereto and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plan are deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff and at the offices of South Glamorgan County Council, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff.

3.  The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

4.  This Instrument may be cited as The M4 Motorway Castleton—Coryton (Connecting Roads, Special Roads) Scheme 1992 Confirmation Instrument 1992.

SCHEDULE TO THE INSTRUMENTTHE M4 MOTORWAY CASTLETON—CORYTON (CONNECTING ROADS, SPECIAL ROADS) SCHEME 1992

The County Council of South Glamorgan makes this scheme in exercise of powers conferred by sections 16, 17 and 324 of the Highways Act 1980 and now vested in it and of all other enabling powers:—

1.  For the purpose of connecting the motorway with other highways, so as to effect a junction at the place stated in Schedule 1 hereto, the County Council of South Glamorgan is authorised to provide along the routes described in the said Schedule special roads for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980.

2.  The centre line of the special roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan.

3.  Where in relation to a special road described in Column (1) of Schedule 2 to this scheme there are specified in Column (2) of that schedule limits of deviation, then the centre line of that special road may deviate within those limits from the centre line shown on the deposited plan.

4.  In this scheme:—

(1) “the Council”

means the South Glamorgan County Council of County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff.

(2) “the motorway”

means the M4 Motorway

(3) “the deposited plan”

means the plan contained in the plan folio marked “The M4 Motorway Castleton—Coryton (Connect ing Roads, Special Roads) Scheme 1992” sealed with the Common Seal of the Council and deposited at the offices of the Council at Room 439, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff. A certified copy has been deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff.

(4) “the special roads”

means all the special roads which the County Council of South Glamorgan is authorised by this scheme to provide.

5.  This Scheme may be cited as “The M4 Motorway Castleton—Coryton (Connecting Roads, Special Roads) Scheme 1992”.

SCHEDULE 1 TO THE SCHEMETHE ROUTES OF THE SPECIAL ROADS

1.  Junction with Pentwyn Link Peripheral Distributor Road at Pentwyn Cardiff in the County of South Glamorgan

Four routes to connect the East bound and West bound carriageways of the Motorway with a roundabout to be constructed as part of the Pentwyn Link Peripheral Distributor Road. (The special roads along these routes are respectively given the reference numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the deposited plan).
