1. In the course of classification of any seed potatoes as basic seed potatoes an authorised officer may classify the potatoes as being potatoes of any of the classes specified in column 1 of paragraph 2 below where he is satisfied on a sample that the standards specified in relation to that class in column 2 of that paragraph have been met and that the tolerances specified in column 3 have not been exceeded in respect of these potatoes and shall state in the certificate the class in which the potatoes have been so classified.
