The Immigration Appeals (Procedure) (Amendment) Rules 1991

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 22 of, and paragraph 25 of Schedule 2 to, the Immigration Act 1971(1), and now vested in him(2), hereby makes the following Rules:–

Citation and commencement

1.  These Rules may be cited as the Immigration Appeals (Procedure) (Amendment) Rules 1991 and shall come into force on 31st October 1991.

Amendment of Immigration Appeals (Procedure) Rules 1984(3)

2.  In rule 27 of the Immigration Appeals (Procedure) Rules 1984, for “10 miles” there shall be substituted “16 kilometres”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Rules)

These Rules amend the Immigration Appeals (Procedure) Rules 1984 to substitute a measurement in kilometres for a measurement in miles in rule 27, in pursuance of the European Community Council Directive of 27th November 1989 amending Directive 80/181/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to units of measurement (89/617/EEC)
