The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6 of the Mineral Workings (Offshore Installations) Act 1971(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consulting with organisations in the United Kingdom appearing to him to be representative of those persons who will be affected, hereby makes the following Regulations:–

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Offshore Installations (Operational Safety, Health and Welfare and Life-Saving Appliances) (Revocations) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 13th September 1990.

2.  The provisions of the Offshore Installations (Operational Safety, Health and Welfare) Regulations 1976(2) and the Offshore Installations (Life-Saving Appliances) Regulations 1977(3) mentioned in column 1 of the Schedule to these Regulations are hereby revoked to the extent specified in column 2 of that Schedule except in so far as they apply to any offshore installation maintained in tidal waters and parts of the sea in or adjacent to Northern Ireland up to the seaward limits of territorial waters.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke provisions relating to first-aid in the Offshore Installations (Operational Safety, Health and Welfare) Regulations 1976 and the Offshore Installations (Life-Saving Appliances) Regulations 1977. The revocations do not extend to tidal waters and parts of the sea in or adjacent to Northern Ireland up to the seaward limits of territorial waters. They will take effect on the day on which the major part of the Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (First-Aid) Regulations 1989 (S.I. 1989/1671) will come into force.
