Textual Amendments

2 Clerk of the Parliaments to be appointed by his Majesty and to execute duties in person.U.K.

The clerk of the Parliaments shall be appointed by his Majesty, but such clerk of the Parliaments so appointed shall also execute the duties of the said office in person, and shall be removable by his Majesty, upon an address of the House of Lords to his Majesty for that purpose.

The nomination and appointment . . . F3 of the clerk assistant and other clerks officiating at the table of the House of Lords (except the clerk of the Parliaments as aforesaid) shall be vested in and exercised by [F4the Speaker of the House of Lords]F4 , but subject always to the approbation of the said House of Lords, on such appointments being duly notified to the House; and such officers, when so appointed and approved, shall be removable only by order of the said House of Lords.

5 Other clerks to be appointed by clerk assistant during existence of present letters patent.U.K.

All the other clerks, except as aforesaid, belonging to the said office of clerk of the Parliaments; (that is to say), the clerk of the journals, copying clerk, clerk of the engrossments, clerk of the inrolments, and the writing clerks under them, shall be nominated and appointed, and removable at pleasure, by the clerk of the Parliaments for the time being executing in person the duties of the said office, according to the provisions herein-before contained.
