Justice and Security Act 2013


12.The provisions contained within the Act stem from the Government’s Justice and Security Green Paper (Cm 8194) (the “Green Paper”), which set out proposals to (i) modernise judicial, independent and parliamentary scrutiny of the Agencies to improve public confidence that executive power is held fully to account; (ii) better equip the courts to pass judgment in cases involving sensitive information; and (iii) protect UK national security by preventing damaging disclosures of national security-sensitive material.
