193.Section 137amends section 508 of the Education Act 1996 in line with the changes (at paragraphs 52 to 55 of Schedule 9 to this Act) to the duties of LEAs in respect of FE provision. LEAs will no longer be under a duty to provide FE but will have a power to do so in connection with local LSC plans. As a consequence, the corresponding duty on LEAs to provide services ancillary to their FE provision is amended to become a power.
