The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 18(2) of the Social Security Administration and Tribunal Membership (Scotland) Act 2020(1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security Administration and Tribunal Membership (Scotland) Act 2020 (Commencement No. 6) Regulations 2022 and come into force on 13 May 2022.

Appointed day

2.  13 May 2022 is the day appointed for the coming into force of sections 15 (authorisation of judiciary to sit in Scottish Tribunals) and 16 (consequential modifications) of the Social Security Administration and Tribunal Membership (Scotland) Act 2020.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations bring into force sections 15 and 16 of the Social Security Administration and Tribunal Membership (Scotland) Act 2020 on 13 May 2022. Section 15 of the 2020 Act modifies section 18 of the Tribunals (Scotland) Act 2014 to enable Scottish Ministers to authorise current and former judges of certain courts and tribunals to assist in the disposal of tribunal business.

The Bill for the 2020 Act received Royal Assent on 10 November 2020. In accordance with section 18(1) of that Act, sections 1, 4, 5, 6, 14, 17, 18 and 19 came into force the following day.
