The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 12(3) of the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020(1) and section 9(3) of the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No. 2) Act 2020(2), and all other powers enabling them to do so.

In accordance with section 12(6) of the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 and section 9(6) of the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No. 2) Act 2020 the Scottish Ministers have laid before the Scottish Parliament a statement of reasons as to why this instrument should be made.

In accordance with section 12(5) of the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 and section 9(5) of the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No. 2) Act 2020, a draft of this instrument has been laid before, and approved by resolution of, the Scottish Parliament.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Coronavirus (Scotland) Acts (Amendment of Expiry Dates) Regulations 2022 and come into force on 30 March 2022.

Amendment of expiry date of Part 1 of the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020

2.—(1) The Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 is amended as follows.

(2) In section 12(1)(3) (expiry) for “31 March 2022” substitute “30 September 2022”.

Amendment of expiry date of Part 1 of the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No. 2) Act 2020

3.—(1) The Coronavirus (Scotland) (No. 2) Act 2020 is amended as follows.

(2) In section 9(1)(4) (expiry) for “31 March 2022” substitute “30 September 2022”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 (the “first Act”) and the Coronavirus (Scotland) (No. 2) Act 2020 (the “second Act”).

Part 1 of the first Act and Part 1 of the second Act expire at the end of 31 March 2022. The Coronavirus (Extension and Expiry) (Scotland) Act 2021 amended the expiry date of Part 1 of the first Act and Part 1 of the second Act to the end of 31 March 2022.

These Regulations further amend those Acts so that Part 1 of the first Act and Part 1 of the second Act now expire at the end of 30 September 2022.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument.
