Criminal Justice And Immigration

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 153(6) of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008(1), makes the following Order.
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice and Immigration (2008 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009.
(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008.
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act in relation to HSS premises is the 22nd June 2009—
(a)section 122; and
(b)paragraphs 1(4), 2(5) and 3(1) to (3) and (5) of Schedule 21.

This Order brings into force the provisions of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 (c.4) set out in Article 2. The provisions being commenced give the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety the power to consult on and publish guidance relating to the power to remove persons causing nuisance or disturbance from HSS premises.
