The Department for Social Development makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 68(2)(a) of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act (Northern Ireland) 2000(1).

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security (2000 Act) (Commencement No. 11) Order (Northern Ireland) 2008.

(2) In this Order any reference to a numbered section or Schedule is to the section of, or the Schedule to, the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act (Northern Ireland) 2000 bearing that number.

Appointed days

2.  The day appointed for the coming into operation , in so far as not already in operation, of—

(a) section 12 (information required by the Department), is 3rd October 2008; and

(b) for paragraph 24 of Schedule 3 (amendment of statutory provisions relating to child support) and section 25 in so far as it relates to that paragraph—

(i) for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, is 3rd October 2008, and

(ii) for all other purposes, is 27th October 2008; and

(c) section 22 (abolition of the child maintenance bonus), in Part I of Schedule 9 the repeal of Article 4 of the Child Support (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(2) and section 67 in so far as it relates to that repeal, is 27th October 2008.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the coming into operation of provisions of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act (Northern Ireland) 2000, in so far as not already in operation, as follows—

• section 12 (information required by the Department) on 3rd October 2008;

• paragraph 24 of Schedule 3, for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, on 3rd October 2008 and for all other purposes on 27th October 2008; and

• section 22 (abolition of the child maintenance bonus), Part I of Schedule 9 in so far as it relates to the repeal of Article 4 of the Child Support (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 and section 67 in so far as it relates to that repeal on 27th October 2008.
