The Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(2) of the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006(1).
Citation and interpretation
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Disability Discrimination (2006 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006.
(2) In this Order—
“the Order” means the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006; and
“the 1995 Act” means the Disability Discrimination Act 1995(2).
Appointed Day
2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of Article 5 (duty of public authorities) of the Order is 1st January 2007.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This is the second Commencement Order to be made under the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 (“the Order”). The Order extensively amends the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (“the 1995 Act”).
Article 2 brings into operation Article 5 (duty of public authorities) on 1st January 2007.
NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDER

The provisions of the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 listed in the table below have been brought into operation by a Commencement Order made before the date of this Order.
