1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (Description of persons to be treated as social care workers) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2004.
(2) In these Regulations “the Act” means the Health and Personal Social Services Act (Northern Ireland) 2001.
2. For the purposes of section 2(3) of the Act (“Social care worker”, etc.), a person participating in a course approved by the Council under section 10 of the Act for persons wishing to become social workers, shall be treated as a social care worker.
