Births and Deaths Registration (Northern Ireland) Order 1976, Section 11 is up to date with all changes known to be in force on or before 25 April 2024. 11.—(1) Where any living infant child is found exposed, it shall be the duty of—
(a)any person finding the child; and
(b)any person in whose charge the child may be placed;
to give, to the best of his knowledge and belief, to the registrar within forty-two days from the date of the finding of the child, such information as he possesses of the particulars required to be registered concerning the birth of the child, [F1in the prescribed manner].
(2) Where one of the persons referred to in paragraph (1) gives the required information concerning a living infant child [F2in the prescribed manner], the other person so referred to shall cease to be under a duty to do so.
(3) Where there is produced to the registrar a certificate signed by a registered medical practitioner stating that in his opinion a child whose birth is required to be registered under this Article is likely to have been born on or near to a date specified in the certificate, the registrar may enter that date in the register as the date of birth of the child.
