The Registration of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in Care Services (Scotland) Regulations 2013 (“the principal Regulations”) require social service workers to register with the Scottish Social Services Council in order to work in a care service. The principal Regulations contain transitional provisions which set a mandatory registration date for persons who are already employed when a new group of social service workers is required to register.
These Regulations amend the Schedule to the principal Regulations by inserting a new table (Table C) which specifies two additional descriptions of social service workers - support worker in a care at home service and support worker in a housing support service. These Regulations also set a mandatory registration date of 30th September 2020 for workers who work in either of these roles on 2nd October 2017.
Section 104(2) has been modified by paragraph 5 of schedule 3 of the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Act 2010 (asp 10).
S.S.I. 2013/227 as amended by S.S.I. 2014/192.
The descriptions in this Table have the meaning ascribed to them by article 1(2) of the Regulation of Care (Social Service Workers) (Scotland) Order 2005 (S.S.I. 2005/318 as amended by S.S.I. 2017/95).
