Territorial extent and application

  1. Section 6 sets out the territorial extent of the sections in the Act. The extent of an Act is the legal jurisdiction where it forms part of the law. The extent of an Act can be different from its application. Application refers to where it has practical effect.
  2. The provisions of the Act extend and apply across the whole of the United Kingdom. The Act does not extend to the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the British Overseas Territories.
  3. The Act extends and applies to the whole of the United Kingdom.
