Powers in relation to bodies
- The Act introduces powers for Local and National Authorities to require information about capacity to manage bodies locally and nationally. Local and National Authorities across the UK have, where necessary, additional powers to direct organisations to support the death management processes. This ensures that deceased bodies can be stored, transported and disposed of with care and respect. Local and National Authorities must have regard to the deceased person’s wishes, religion or belief, if known, when carrying out functions under such powers.
