The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 35(2) of the UEFA European Championship (Scotland) Act 2020(1).

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the UEFA European Championship (Scotland) Act 2020 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2020 and come into force on 10 July 2020.

(2) In these Regulations, “the Act” means the UEFA European Championship (Scotland) Act 2020.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Act specified in column 1 of the table in the schedule of these Regulations (the subject matter of which is described in the corresponding entry in column 2) is 10 July 2020.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations bring sections 2, 3 and 4 of the UEFA European Championship (Scotland) Act 2020 (“the Act”) into force on 10 July 2020.

The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 23 January 2020. Sections 32 to 37 came into force on the following day. Sections 9 to 11, 15 to 25, 27, 28, 30 and 31 came into force on the expiry of the period of 2 months beginning with the day after Royal Assent. Section 36 was amended by paragraph 1 of schedule 4 of the Coronavirus (No. 2) (Scotland) Act 2020.

NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT REGULATIONS

The following provisions of the Act have been brought into force by commencement regulations made before the date of these Regulations. Section 1 was amended by paragraph 1 of schedule 4 of the Coronavirus (No. 2) (Scotland) Act 2020.
