PRIVATE STREETS

The Department for Regional Development(1) in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(3) of the Private Streets (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1992(2) and paragraph 4(1) of the Schedule to the Northern Ireland Act 2000(3) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Private Streets (Amendment) (1992 Order) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001.
2. The appointed day for the coming into operation of Article 3 of the Private Streets (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 is 20th February 2001.

This Order brings into operation on 20th February 2001 the provisions of Article 3 of the Private Streets (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 which provides for:—
1. the bringing of street lighting within the definition of “street works”;
2. the vesting and control of lighting equipment; and
3. a consequential amendment to Article 11 of the Private Streets (Northern Ireland) Order 1980.
All the other provisions of the Private Streets (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 came into operation on 18th February 1993.
