The Department of Health and Social Services being a Department designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to measures relating to training in medical practice, the issue and/or recognition of diplomas or certificates or other evidence of qualifications in relation to medical practice, the titles used by those in medical practice, and the exercise of medical practice, and in exercise of powers conferred by that section and by Article 8 of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1978(3), and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, after consultation with such organisations as appeared to the Department to be representative of the medical profession as required by Article 8(5), hereby makes the following Regulations:
