The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 3(2) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1994(1), and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health and Social Services Trusts (Exercise of Functions) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 4th November 1996.
2. The Schedule to the Health and Social Services Trusts (Exercise of Functions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994(2) shall be amended as follows—
(a)in the first column (Statutory Provision) there shall be added at the end the words “Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(3)”; and
(b)in the second column (Relevant functions of a Health and Social Services Board) there shall be added at the end, opposite the reference to the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995, the words “All functions.”.

These Regulations amend the Health and Social Services Trusts (Exercise of Functions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994 (“the principal regulations”) to take account of the introduction of most of the provisions of the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995.
The Regulations extend the list of relevant functions of a Health and Social Services Board, which are prescribed in the principal regulations, to include all functions conferred on a Health and Social Services Board under the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995.
