EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Health Protection (Coronavirus) (International Travel) (Scotland) Regulations 2020 (“the International Travel Regulations”).

Regulation 2 amends the list of acute risk countries and territories specified in schedule A2 of the International Travel Regulations. The effect is that in addition to existing restrictions, as of 4.00 a.m. on 12 May 2021, a person who arrives in Scotland via the common travel area who has in the previous 10 days departed from, or transited through, Maldives, Nepal or Turkey may only enter Scotland at a designated airport, and they must be in possession of a managed self-isolation package.

Regulation 3 makes saving provision such that a person who arrives in Scotland on or after 12:01 am on 8 June 2020, but before the coming into effect of an amendment made by these Regulations, must comply with the International Travel Regulations as they were at the time at which the person arrived in Scotland.
