121Interpretation of PartE+W

This section has no associated Explanatory Notes

(1)In this Part—

  • F1...

  • apprenticeship training” has the meaning given by section 83;

  • [F2approved English apprenticeship” has the meaning given by section A1(2);]

  • [F3approved steps towards occupational competence” has the meaning given by section A2DB;]

  • [F3approved technical education qualification” has the meaning given by section A2DA;]

  • F4...

  • organised leisure-time occupation” has the meaning given by section 86.

  • [F3technical education qualification” has the meaning given by section A2DA;]

(2)In this Part a reference to education within [F5the Secretary of State's remit under this Part] is a reference to—

(a)education falling within section 86(1)(a) or (b), and

(b)organised leisure-time occupation in connection with such education.

(3)In this Part a reference to training within [F6the Secretary of State's remit under this Part] is a reference to—

(a)training falling within section 83(1),

[F7(aa)training falling within section 83A(1),]

(b)training falling within section 86(1)(c), and

(c)organised leisure-time occupation in connection with training falling within section 86(1)(c).

(4)For the purposes of this Part a person is subject to adult detention if the person is subject to a detention order and—

(a)aged 19 or over, or

(b)aged under 19 and detained in—

(i)a young offender institution, or part of such an institution, that is used wholly or mainly for the detention of persons aged 18 and over, or

(ii)a prison.
