9 Re-allocation of responsibility for certain local authority functions relating to the countryside

(1) As regards the [1964 c. 67.] Local Government (Development and Finance) (Scotland) Act 1964 and the [1967 c. 86.] Countryside (Scotland) Act 1967, the functions described in the sections thereof mentioned in the first column of Part I of Schedule 1 to this Act, being functions presently carried out by the bodies mentioned in the second column, shall, subject to subsection (3) below, henceforth only be carried out by the bodies mentioned in the third column.

(2) In consequence of the re-allocation of functions which is provided for in subsection (1) above the said Acts of 1964 and 1967 shall have effect subject to the amendments mentioned in Part II of the said Schedule.

(3) Notwithstanding the said re-allocation of responsibilities, regional councils and regional planning authorities may, so far as appears to them to be expedient for the purpose of exercising their functions under sections 40 (functions as regards longdistance routes), 48 (functions as regards country parks), 48A (functions as regards regional parks), 49A (functions as regards management agreements concerning the countryside), 61 and 63 (functions as regards the recreational use of waterways) of the said Act of 1967, exercise any function conferred on any other local authority or planning authority either by that Act or by the said Act of 1964.
