25Where the proceedings at the taking of the poll are interrupted or obstructed by any riot or open violence, the presiding officer at the polling station where the riot or open violence has occurred may adjourn the poll at that polling station until the following day or some other convenient time, and if necessary may repeat such adjournment until such interruption or obstruction has ceased, and where the poll has been so adjourned by a presiding officer, the presiding officer shall forthwith give notice of such adjournment to the returning officer who shall not finally declare the result of the election until the poll so interrupted or obstructed is closed and the various packets are delivered to the returning officer as provided in the immediately following paragraph.
