PART XIXBurgesses.

332Qualification of burgesses.

Every local government elector of a burgh shall be a burgess of the burgh.

333Admission of honorary burgesses.

(1)The town council of a burgh may, by resolution passed by not less than two-thirds of the members voting thereon at a meeting of the council the notice of which specifies the proposed admission as an item of business, admit to be honorary burgesses of the burgh persons of distinction and any persons who have rendered eminent services to the burgh.

(2)The town clerk of a burgh or such other officer as may be designated for the purpose by the town council shall keep a burgess roll containing the names of persons admitted to be burgesses under this section.

334Limitation of rights of persons burgesses by virtue of Part XIX of Act.

Nothing in this Part of this Act shall—

(a)confer any right of membership or any right or interest in the properties, funds, revenues or privileges of any guild or incorporation of crafts; or

(b)confer any right or interest in any burgess acres or any grazing rights connected therewith, or affect the law or practice existing at the commencement of this Act with reference to the use, enjoyment and administration of any such burgess acres or grazing rights.

335Saving as to admission of burgesses.

Nothing in this Part of this Act shall interfere with any law or practice existing at the commencement of this Act by which burgesses are created or admitted in any burgh.
