The Traffic Signs (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007

Amendments

2.—(1) The Traffic Signs Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997(1) shall be amended as provided by paragraphs (2) to (8).

(2) In Schedule 1 (warning signs) in diagram 563 in item 3 of the table after the words “13. “Pedestrians crossing”” there shall be inserted the following—

“14.   “Runners in road”

15.   “Walkers in road””.

(3) In Schedule 2 (regulatory signs)—

(a) for diagram 639.1A and the words specified in and under it there shall be substituted the diagram and the words specified in and under it specified in Part I of the Schedule;

(b) in diagram 660 in item 3 of the table after the words “5. “Resident permit holders only”” there shall be inserted the following—

• Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(c) in diagram 660.3 in item 3 of the table after the word “appropriate” there shall be inserted “. The size of the code letter and patch may be varied and may be in any contrasting colours. The code letter may be varied to a number or a combination of letters (capitals, lower case or both) and number, or a name identifying a parking zone or parking permit identification”;

(d) in diagram 660.4 in item 3 of the table after the words ““Loading only”” there shall be inserted the following—

• Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.;

(e) in diagram 660.5 in item 3 of the table for the words “Permit identification code letters as shown in diagram 660.3 may be added” there shall be substituted “Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(f) for diagrams 660.6 and 660.7 and the words specified in and under them there shall be substituted the diagrams and the words specified in and under them specified in Part II of the Schedule;

(g) in diagram 661A in item 3 of the table after the words “Permitted variants: Schedule 16, items 11, 22” there shall be inserted “. Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(h) in diagram 661.1 in item 3 of the table after the word ““Free”” there shall be inserted “. Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(i) in diagrams 661.2 and 661.3 in item 3 of the respective tables after the word ““machine”” there shall be inserted “. Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(j) in diagram 661.4 in item 2 of the table after the word “Diagrams:” there shall be inserted “639.1A, 660.7,”;

(k) in diagram 661.4 in item 3 of the table for the word “None” there shall be substituted “Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(l) in diagram 662 in item 3 of the table after the word ““Ticket”” there shall be inserted “. Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(m) in diagram 663 in item 3 of the table—

(i) after the words “Permitted variants: Schedule 16, item 21” there shall be inserted “The legend “Meter ZONE” may be placed below the no waiting roundel.”;

(ii) after the words “6. “Pay and display”” there shall be inserted “7. “Residents' parking””;

(iii) after the words “no waiting roundel” there shall be inserted “. The legend “Permit holder parking only past this point” may be added below the no waiting roundel. Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”;

(iv) the words “, number or letter” shall be deleted;

(n) in diagram 663.1 in item 3 of the table after the word “roundel” there shall be inserted “. Permit identification code letters, as shown in diagram 660.3, may be added and may be varied in the manner indicated in that diagram in item 3 of the table.”; and

(o) after diagram 670.2 there shall be inserted the diagram and the words specified in and under it specified in Part III of the Schedule.

(4) In Schedule 4 (other informatory signs)—

(a) in diagram 857.1 in item 2 of the table after the word “Diagrams:” there shall be inserted “ 639.1A,”;

(b) in diagram 878 in item 2 of the table after the words “879” there shall be inserted “, 879.1 (when diagram 878 is varied to “Speed cameras”)”;

(c) in diagram 879 in item 2 of the table after the words “878” there shall be inserted “, 879.1”; and

(d) after diagram 879 there shall be inserted the diagrams and the words specified in and under them specified in Part IV of the Schedule.

(5) In Schedule 6 (road markings)—

(a) in diagram 1019 in item 2 of the table after the words “638.1” there shall be inserted “, 639.1A”; and

(b) in diagram 1028.3 in item 2 of the table after the words “Diagrams:” there shall be inserted “639.1A,”.

(6) In Schedule 12 Part I (miscellaneous warning, informatory and regulatory signs for roadworks) after diagram 7001.2 there shall be inserted the diagram and the words specified in and under it specified in Part V of the Schedule.

(7) In Schedule 16 (permitted variants) —

(a) in item 1 in column (2) after the words “670.2” there shall be inserted “, 670.3”;

(b) in item 13 in column (2) after the words “644” there shall be inserted “, 660.7”;

(c) in item 14 in column (2) after the words “640.2A” there shall be inserted “, 660.7”; and

(d) in item 22 in column (2)—

(i) after the words “620.1” there shall be inserted “, 639.1A”; and

(ii) after the words “660.4” there shall be inserted “, 660.6, 660.7”.

(8) In Schedule 17 (illumination requirements) in item 1 in column (2)—

(a) after the words “670” there shall be inserted “, 670.3”;

(b) after the words “879” there shall be inserted “, 879.1, 880”; and

(c) after the words “7001” there shall be inserted “7001.3”.
