This Order brings into operation—
(a)on 1st December 1999, the provisions of the Employment Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 (“the 1999 Order”) specified in Part I of Schedule 1, which include provisions relating to agreements to exclude unfair dismissal rights, amounts of awards for unfair dismissal, and the Labour Relations Agency, subject to the transitional and saving provisions in paragraphs 1 to 7 of Schedule 3; and
(b)on 15th December 1999, the provisions of the 1999 Order specified in Part II of Schedule 1 (provisions relating to leave for family reasons, etc., the Certification Officer, and abolition of Commissioners), subject to the transitional provisions in paragraphs 3, 4, 8 and 9 of Schedule 3.
The Order also provides for the coming into operation of related repeals (Schedule 2).
