ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 50(4)(c) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 7th April 1997.

Speed restrictions on certain roads

2.  The Department hereby directs that the road and each of the lengths of road specified in the Schedule shall be a restricted road for the purposes of Article 50 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981.

Revocation

3.  Item 9 of Schedule 2 to the Roads (Speed Limit) Order (Northern Ireland) 1979(2) is hereby revoked.

Article 2

SCHEDULE

Restricted Roads

1.  Cromkill Road, Route C47, Ballymena, from its junction with Toome Road, Route B18, to a point approximately 380 metres south-east of that junction.

2.  Toome Road, Route B18, Ballymena, from a point approximately 130 metres south-west of its junction with Camphill Park, to its junction with Old Tullygarley Road, Unclassified No. 2076.

3.  Tullygarley Road, Route C47, Ballymena, from its junction with Sourhill Road, Route C47, to its junction with Toome Road, Route B18.

4.  Blackrock Road, Route C546, Bovedy, from a point approximately 60 metres south-west of its junction with Edenbane Road, Route B64, to its junction with Dullaghy Road, Route C546.

5.  Blackrock Road, Unclassified No. 377, Bovedy, from its junction with Dullaghy Road, Route C546, to a point approximately 170 metres south-east of that junction.

6.  Bovedy Road, Route C546, Bovedy, from its junction with Dullaghy Road, Route C546, to a point approximately 100 metres south of that junction.

7.  Dullaghy Road, Route C546, Bovedy, from its junction with Blackrock Road, Route C546, to its junction with Bovedy Road, Route C546.

8.  Dullaghy Road, Unclassified No. 378, Bovedy, from its junction with Bovedy Road, Route C546, to a point approximately 50 metres west of that junction.

9.  Ballymena Road, Route B62, Cullybackey, from a point approximately 230 metres south-east of its junction with Old Cullybackey Road, to a point approximately 730 metres south-east of that junction.

10.  Moneynick Road, Route A6, Toome, from a point approximately 110 metres south-east of its junction with Shore Road, Unclassified No. 1024, to a point approximately 100 metres east of its junction with Staffordstown Road, Route C52.

11.  Larne Road, Route A2, Whitehead, from a point approximately 100 metres north-west of its junction with Slaughterford Road, to a point approximately 870 metres south-east of that junction.

12.  Rawbrae Road, Unclassified No. 14, Whitehead.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order makes the road and lengths of road specified in the Schedule restricted roads, thereby imposing a speed limit of 30 miles per hour on those roads.

The length of road to which the item revoked in Article 3 relates is now comprised in a greater length of road described in item No. 3 of the Schedule.
