These Rules amend the Rules of the Supreme Court (Northern Ireland) 1980 to take account of the coming into force of the Arbitration Act 1996. In particular the Rules—
(i)provide for the procedure contained in Order 56 of the Rules of the Supreme Court (Northern Ireland) 1980 to apply to appeals by way of case stated from the district judge in arbitrations under Article 30(4)(b) of the County Courts (Northern Ireland) Order 1980;
(ii)provide for the bringing of applications and appeals under the Arbitration Act 1996.
