1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Control of Traffic (Belfast) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 19th May 1997.
(2) In this Order, “central reservation” means the raised islands between the carriageways of East Bridge Street, Belfast, which separate the carriageway which is to be used by traffic moving in one direction from the carriageway which is to be used by traffic moving in the other direction.
2. Subject to Article 4, a person shall not cause or permit a vehicle proceeding on the roads specified in column 1 of the Schedule in the direction specified in column 2 to make a U-turn at the locations specified in column 3.
3. Subject to Article 4, a person shall not cause or permit a vehicle proceeding in an easterly direction along East Bridge Street, Belfast, to make a right-hand turn through the gap in the central reservation situated between a point approximately 129 metres east of its junction with Stewart Street and a point approximately 132.5 metres east of that junction.
4. Articles 2 and 3 shall not apply to—
(a)vehicles being used for fire brigade, ambulance, police or military purposes; or
(b)a vehicle, the driver of which is acting upon the direction or with the permission of a constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
