Council Directive 2008/119/EC of 18 December 2008 laying down minimum standards for the protection of calves (Codified version)

For the purposes of this Directive, the following definitions shall apply:
‘calf’ means a bovine animal up to six months old;
‘competent authority’ means the competent authority as defined in Article 2(6) of Council Directive 90/425/EEC of 26 June 1990 concerning veterinary and zootechnical checks applicable in intra-Community trade in certain live animals and products with a view to the completion of the internal market(1).
