The Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (Amendment) Regulations 1996

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Animals and Animals Products (Import and Export) Regulations 1995 (“the principal Regulations”) by replacing Schedules 2, 3, 5 and 6 of those Regulations to take into account changes in Community legislation since those Regulations were passed (regulation 3). The Community instruments containing the changes are:

Commission Decision 96/187/EC of 19th February 1996 amending Decision 95/357/EC drawing up a list of border inspection posts agreed for veterinary checks on products and animals from third countries detailed rules concerning the checks to be carried out by the veterinary experts of the Commission and repealing Decision 95/24/EC (OJ No. L59, 8.3.96, p.59);

Commission Decision 95/493/EC of 15th November 1995 repealing Decision 94/887/EC derogating from prohibitions relating to African swine fever for certain areas in Spain and repealing Council Decision 89/21/EEC (OJ No. L282, 24.11.95, p.28);

Council Directive 95/25/EC of 22nd June 1995 amending Directive 64/432/EEC on health problems affecting intra-Community trade in bovine animals and swine (OJ No. L243, 11.10.95, p.16);

Commission Decision 96/190/EC of 22nd February 1996 amending Decision 93/24/EEC and Decision 93/244/EEC and concerning additional guarantees relating to Aujeszky’s disease for pigs destined to regions free of the disease in Germany (OJ No. L60, 9.3.96, p.29);

Commission Decision 95/536/EC of 6th December 1995 amending Commission Decisions 92/160/EEC and 93/197/EEC in relation to the regionalization of Egypt for the imports of registered horses (OJ No. L304, 13.12.95, p.49);

Commission Decision 96/81/EC of 12th January 1996 amending Decisions 92/260/EEC, 93/196/EEC, 93/197/EEC and 94/467/EC with regard to the categories of male equidae to which apply the requirements of equine viral arteritis (OJ No. L19, 25.1.96, p.53);

A minor error in the principal Regulations is corrected (regulation 2), as well as several minor errors in the Schedules to the principal Regulations.
