The Department for Regional Development(1) makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 51(2) and 52(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997(2) and now vested in it(3).

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as The Disposal of Vehicles (Prescribed Period) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013 and shall come into operation on 12th June 2013.

Prescribed period

2.  The prescribed period for the purposes of Articles 51(2)(c)(ii) and 52(2)(c)(ii) of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 shall be 7 days.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations prescribe the period (7 days) for the purposes of a notice served under Article 51(2)(c)(ii) or Article 52(2)(c)(ii) of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 requiring the owner of a vehicle to remove the vehicle from the custody of a police constable or, as the case may be, the Department within the prescribed period from the day on which the notice was served.
