1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Support) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 4th April 2003.
2. The Education (Student Support) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002(4) shall be amended in accordance with these Regulations.
3.—(1) Regulation 12 shall be amended as follows.
(2) For paragraph (3)(e)(ii) substitute –
“(ii)a Health Authority or a Strategic Health Authority established pursuant to section 8 of the National Health Service Act 1977(5) or a Special Health Authority established pursuant to section 11 of that Act (6);”
4. In regulation 21(14) for the words “regulation 12(2)(a) and (b)” substitute “regulation 12(2)(a) or (b)”.

These Regulations amend the Education (Student Support) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002.
The amendment to regulation 12(3)(e)(ii) refers to the new Health Authorities and Strategic Health Authorities established under the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002.
The amendment to regulation 21(14) corrects a minor drafting error.

Article 5(b) of and Part II of Schedule 3 to the Departments (Transfer and Assignment of Functions) Order (Northern Ireland) (S.R. 1999/481) transferred functions under the Education (Student Support) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 from the Department of Education to the Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment, now renamed the Department for Employment and Learning
1977 c. 49; Section 8 of the National Health Service Act 1977 was substituted by Section 1 of the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002 c. 17
Section 11(1) was substituted by Section 65 (1) of and paragraphs 4 and 6 of Schedule 4 to the Health Act 1999 c. 8: Section 11(3) was amended by Section 2(1) of and paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 1 to the Health Authorities Act 1995 c. 17
