ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

WHEREAS the Department of the Environment is satisfied that it is desirable in the interests of safety to restrict the speed of motor vehicles on the parts of the roads specified in Articles 2 and 3;
AND WHEREAS the Department has published notice of its intention in compliance with Article 51(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1);
NOW THEREFORE the Department, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 51(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Temporary Speed Limit (Upper Ballinderry, Lisburn) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 16th February 1997.
2. The driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour on Moira Road, Route A26, Upper Ballinderry, Lisburn, from a point approximately 540 metres south of its junction with Old Road, Unclassified No. 1062, to its junction with Glenavy Road, Route A26, is prohibited for a period of 12 weeks from 15th February 1997.
3. The driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour on Glenavy Road, Route A26, Upper Ballinderry, Lisburn, from its junction with Moira Road, Route A26, to a point approximately 210 metres north of its junction with Cormac Road, Unclassified No. 47, is prohibited for a period of 12 weeks from 15th February 1997.

This Order prohibits in the interests of safety the driving of motor vehicles at more than 30 miles per hour on—
1. Moira Road, Route A26, Upper Ballinderry, Lisburn, from a point approximately 540 metres south of its junction with Old Road, Unclassified No. 1062, to its junction with Glenavy Road, Route A26; and
2. Glenavy Road, Route A26, Upper Ballinderry, Lisburn, from its junction with Moira Road, Route A26, to a point approximately 210 metres north of its junction with Cormac Road, Unclassified No. 47
for a period of 12 weeks commencing on 16th February 1997.
Any person who contravenes the Order shall be guilty of an offence under the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (£1,000).
Traffic signs indicating the effect of the Order will be erected on the roads in due course.
