The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 537(1)(a) and (4) of the Education Act 1996(1).

Citation, commencement and extent

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the School Information (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2025.

(2) These Regulations come into force on 16th June 2025.

(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

Amendment of the School Information (England) Regulations 2008

2.—(1) The School Information (England) Regulations 2008(2) are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).

(2) In Schedule 4 (specified information to be published on a school’s website), in paragraph 17—

(a)in sub-paragraph (1), for “Schools Financial Benchmarking website” substitute “Financial Benchmarking and Insights Tool”(3),

(b)for sub-paragraph (2)(a), substitute—

(a) Financial Benchmarking and Insights Tool” means the online Financial Benchmarking and Insights Tool maintained by the Department for Education; and.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the School Information (England) Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/3093) to require maintained schools to publish a link to the school’s page on the Financial Benchmarking and Insights Tool website which is maintained by the Department for Education. This amendment is made because the Schools Financial Benchmarking website is replaced with the Financial Benchmarking and Insights Tool.

An Explanatory Memorandum is published alongside this instrument on www.legislation.gov.uk.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.

1996 c. 56. Section 537(1) was substituted by paragraph 152 of Schedule 30 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (c. 31), and amended by S.I. 2010/1158 and paragraph 9 of Schedule 13 to the Education Act 2011 (c. 21). Section 537(4) was amended by paragraph 37 of Schedule 7 to the Education Act 1997 (c. 44). There are other amendments to section 537 that are not relevant to these Regulations. See section 579(1) for the definitions of “prescribed” and “regulations”.
