The Treasury, in exercise of the power conferred by section 154(1) of the Policing and Crime Act 2017(1), make the following Regulations.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) (Amendment) Regulations 2017 and come into force at 2.30 p.m. on 8th September 2017.

Amendment to the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) Regulations 2017

2.  In the Schedule to the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) Regulations 2017(2), in the entry in the second column which corresponds to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1718 (2006), for “Council Regulation (EC) No. 329/2007 of 27th March 2007 concerning restrictive measures against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”(3) substitute “Council Regulation (EU) 2017/1509 of 30th August 2017 concerning restrictive measures against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and repealing Regulation (EC) No. 329/2007”(4).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/478) (“the 2017 Regulations”) to refer to Council Regulation (EU) 2017/1509 of 30th August 2017 concerning restrictive measures against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (OJ L 224 31.8.2017, p. 1) as it repeals and replaces Council Regulation (EC) No. 329/2007 (OJ L 88 29.3.2007, p. 1) to which the 2017 Regulations previously referred.

An impact assessment has not been prepared for this instrument because no impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
