3. On the establishment date there shall be established an authority, to be known as “the New Forest National Park Authority”, for the New Forest National Park(1).
The New Forest National Park was designated by order of the Countryside Agency on 24th January 2002 under section 7 of, and Schedule 1 to, the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 (c. 97); that order was confirmed with modifications by the Minister under paragraph 2 of Schedule 1 to that Act on 1st March 2005 and took effect on that date.
